7-Eleven Hits 60000 Stores Milestone

7-Eleven network, stated to be the largest convenience retail chain in the world, has just got bigger. The retail chain giant has hit another milestone by opening its 60,000th store.

After its inception in Southland Ice Company in Oak Cliff, Texas, 89 years ago, the company has never looked back. It gradually started expanding to different countries and today, the brand has presence in 17 different countries including Canada, Mexico, Japan, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Sweden, Denmark, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the UAE through area licence and master franchise agreements.

In 1974, the retail chain expanded into Japan with 7-Eleven Japan, which became the parent company of the chain in November 2005.

Last year, 7-Eleven opened approximately 4000 stores and it plans to continue its worldwide expansion. To add the 18th country to its kitty, 7-Eleven now eyes Vietnam as its next destination. The store is expected to open by 2017.

7-Eleven success story is not only inspiring, but amazing as well. After starting as a small local ice house, it has grown over the years store-by-store, country-by-country and community-by-community. This zeal, to be on the top has made 7-Eleven a global brand.
