Tokyo-based craft products retailer DigitalStudio has launched a cross-border eCommerce venture — Discovery Japan Mall. The virtual mall features about 100 Japanese companies with exclusive stores on the mall that offers about 15,000 items. The initial product basket at the mall includes cosmetics, food, watches, fashion, fishing gear and toys.
The recently launched mall is offering shipping to more than 120 countries and regions. In addition to this, as a part of the opening campaign, it will be offering free international shipping for orders worth JPY 20,000 or more for a very limited period. Besides accepting payments through credit cards, the mall supports payment by UnionPay, AliPay, WeChat and PayPal.
To boost the consumer interface, the website has been made available in various lingos such as English, simplified and traditional Chinese, Thai Indonesian and Korean. For seamless and trouble-free order placement and deliveries, all the orders would include tracking and shipping insurance from Japan.This will gradually build consumer trust in the brand.
The mall aims at offering veiled products from Japan and is endeavoring to make these unique Japanese products available in the overseas market. It is working with artisans, craftsmen and manufacturers to sell unique products.
It plans to sell handmade iPad and MacBook cases soon on the platform. The company also has plans to increase the number of companies opening stores. It wants to achieve a target of 30,000 products by the end of 2016, and 100,000 in the 2017 fiscal year
