dPronto is now last-mile delivery partner of Flipkart

Flipkart – India’s largest ecommerce company has tied up with last-mile delivery partner dPronto to strengthen its delivery system with skilled delivery boys.

dPront is set up by ex-CEO of Airtel Enterprise Rajiv Sharma. This tie-up serves a dual purpose for the ecommerce giant Flipkart, offering dignified jobs to underprivileged youth in rural areas, through dPronto and its group company, Empower Pragati’s network.

Empower Pragati is also known for uninterrupted supply of freshly trained logistics staff across 600 towns of India. The company hires youth from economically weaker sections of society and by gaining respectable employment in logistics with a definitive skill set which brings them a steady income, they are able to transform their own and their family’s lives.

Last-mile delivery constitutes 40 per cent of ecommerce logistics and is also expected to grow at a CAGR of 48 per cent to reach $2.1 billion by 2020. And With this tie up, Flipkart has already set itself ahead in the competition from other ecommerce rivals for last-mile delivery.

Neeraj Agarwal, senior director, delivery operations at Flipkart.com, also said that the company also want to serve the social responsibility of transforming lives of the less privileged youth through respectable jobs. A job like this can pay a fresher anywhere upwards of Rs 10,500 per month and can go up to Rs 17,000 including other benefits and fuel expenses.
