Luxury Bangkok mall by Aeon Thailand in 2018

A luxury shopping mall will knock in knock in Bangkok announced by Japanese retail giant Aeon, proposed to open in 2018. The luxury shopping mall will be a part of an investment of ฿10 billion (US$280 million) in the country over the next five years by Aeon Thailand.

Apart from this shopping mall, the retail finance giant is also planning various speciality stores with 10 new MaxValu supermarkets, out of which three MaxValu supermarkets will be opened this year with an investment of 50 million baht, reports the Bangkok Post.

The site for the ฿6 billion (US$170 million) mega-mall, which will have between 200,000 and 300,000 sqm of retail space, is still to be searched.

“The complex will have the same image as the company’s malls in Japan and we want it to be able to compete with inner-city retail megaprojects like CentralWorld, Siam Paragon and The Emporium” – says Aeon MD Masamitsu Ikuta.

The retail giant is expected to get some funds for business expansion from listing the company on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 2020.

The Group is expecting supermarket sales of Aeon in Thailand will reach 20 billion baht in 2020, nearly triple last year’s sales of 7 billion due to their aggressive plans in Thailand.
