Tokyu Hands, the Japanese department store has plans to enhance its overseas sales and is all set to open its third store in Singapore. The brand already operates two stores in Singapore which are doing good trade.
This contributes 1 per cent of overall sales and overseas income for its latest year totaled about US$7.69 million.
The third store is opening next month in Singapore and the group plans to expand its reach further and start trading in Malaysia as well. It is hopeful to start the operations in Malaysia next year.
Tokyu Hands’ first overseas branch opened in Taiwan in 2000 and the number has considerably escalated to 15 today. All these are franchised stores on the island. The brand opened its first directly managed store overseas in 2012. This first store was opened in China but due to certain management difficulties the store closed its operations early this January.
