The movers and shakers of the region’s e-commerce industry gathered to share information, analyses and compare notes.
Industry players in the cross-border e-commerce industry gathered in Singapore for the inaugural Last Mile Fulfilment Asia 2015 (LMFAsia) exhibition and conference on 19 – 20 March 2015 at MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO. The event brought together more than 60 speakers from 12 countries across Asia, the United States and Europe as well as hundreds of attendees for the two-day conference and exhibition.
The event sought to build partnerships that will stimulate cross border e-commerce growth throughout the region. Research by eMarketer in 2014 indicates that the Asia Pacific is now the world’s largest e-commerce market, with a total spending of over US$500 billion. This figure is expected to go up to US$860 billion by 2016, growing by 35 per cent annually. Given the tremendous growth, LMFAsia was a good venue for players to take advantage of new opportunities through collaboration and partnerships as well as mitigate challenges that have risen from evolving consumer demand.
On hand as guest of honour was Teo Eng Cheong, chief executive, International Enterprise Singapore, who spoke about the impact of digitisation trends that have shaped online consumer purchasing behaviour. He also discussed Singapore’s position as a hub for global and regional players looking for new e-commerce opportunities across the region.
“Confidence in Singapore’s state-of the-art facilities and capabilities, coupled with excellent sea and air connectivity, and an efficient and transparent customs, strengthens our position as the e-commerce and e-fulfilment hub of the region,” he remarked.
Industry insiders had a chance to network, exchange views and knowledge about the issues and challenges affecting the industry. The accompanying exhibition was also a good opportunity for companies to showcase new products and technologies by leading regional and domestic fulfilment players, such as integrated warehouse, fleet and payment management solutions alongside the latest in fulfilment technologies made available by leading regional and domestic fulfilment players — including customised packaging and automated pick-and-pack solutions.
